Cory inks one-year Co-Factory Deal with Bmxmania.com! (May
29, 2002)
New Jersey's very own "Power" House recently inked his best
deal yet of his young BMX career when he signed on with Jerry Landrum's
BMXMANIA.COM for a one-year Co-Factory deal. He is super stoked about
sporting the Bmxmania colors for 2002 along with some of the best
names in BMX racing today, such as Entegee, Redline, Dan's Competition,
Troy Lee Designs, Tektro, Kovachi Wheels, Airwalk, ATI, UGP, Sun Ringle,
Hot Shoppe Designs and Answer. We'd like to send out a big "Thank
You" to the man behind Bmxmania.com, JL, for giving the "power"
house from NJ this opportunity. Cory's other sponsor for 2002 includes
EVS Speed Protection.
Tarheel National Results from Tangelwood NC (May 25 &
26, 2002)
If you like very warm weather, Tanglewood North Carolina over the
Memorial Day Weekend was the place to be. With temps in the mid to
upper 80s over the weekend, it took the body a bit to adjust from
the comfortable 60s and 70s in NJ, but it was nothing a cool dip in
a pool and a BBQ couldn't handle!. After a clinic on Friday with Percy
Owens from Profile Racing, and a few hours of practice, Cory started
the weekend Saturday on fire with a 1st place in moto #1. In moto
#2 the "Power" House rocketed out of the gate in 1st place
but a crash right before the 1st turn relinguished him to 4th place
in the 2nd moto of the two moto set. It seemed the crash rattled Cory
a bit and in the main on Saturday Cory couldn't muster any better
than 6th. But after a decent night's sleep Saturday night, he was
back and ready to prove to everyone that Saturday was a fluke and
that there would be no repeat! Sunday was another day and the riders
in his class could probably easily feel the energy level difference.
He rocketed to 2nd place in all his motos and to an easy third place
in his main. The only two riders to beat him in the main on Sunday
were Patrick Carbone from Georgia and Lucas Arthur from Ohio. Overall
the weekend was a blast at a great facility. Tanglewood Park is a
beautiful place with lots to do; horseback riding, boat rentals, a
Pro Golf course and lots of southern hospitality! Thank you to everyone
at Tanglewood BMX for a great event! See Ya On The Track!
Next Stop - Tanglewood NC and the Tarheel National (May
19, 2002)
The NBL National series heads for Tanglewood NC and the Tarheel National
for Memorial Day Weekend and it appears that your's truely is as primed
as he can be before heading south! Cory finished out the month of
May at Central Jersey BMX on fire. He posted wins in all three motos
followed by Tyler McBride, who is definately getting faster and stronger
every week. Tyler posted three strong 2nd places followed by Ryan
Anderson for 3rd and Paul Fillippone for 4th. Due to a late race start,
Hunter Lyden had to leave and the 6 Rookie class lost it's 5th rider.
Ryan Anderson, also a rider on a mission, turned on the after burners
and rocketed to 3rd in motos two and three, earning him 3rd place
overall on the day. Newcomer Paul Filippone rounded out the 6 Rookie
class in 4th place with an awesome race. Paul is another racer getting
stronger and faster every week and we'd like to congratulate him on
an outstanding performance on Sunday. Paul is the younger brother
of Luke Filippone, one of our hole-shot winners. Keep the rubber on
the road and see ya in North Carolina!
Cory earns 8th place Leap Plate for 2001 from CJBMX! (May
19, 2002)
Cory earned an 8th place Leap Plate for 2001 from Central Jersey
BMX on Sunday, May 19th for his overall ranking within the Rookie
class in 2001. Leap Plates go the the top 10 riders for the season
in each class; Rookie, Novice, Expert, Cruiser, and Girls. Congratulations
to all the Leap Plate winners from CJBMX and Good Luck in 2002!
"Perfect" Friday Night at Central Jersey BMX! (May
10, 2002)
Central Jersey BMX held a special Friday Night race on May 10th
since Sunday May 12th was reserved for Mom, but many folks had no
problem leaving work and/or school and making it to the race. There
were many new-comers and many familiar faces around the track. Cory's
motos included 4 other super-fast regulars such as; Ryan Anderson,
Tyler McBride, Paul Filipone and 5 year-old rocket Tommy Gillis! Tommy
had an awesome night as he finished 2nd in the first moto, ahead of
all the other 6 year olds. The third moto was a close one as Tyler
McBride poured on the speed and created a photo finish at the line
by finishing a close second. Cory held on to win all three motos and
perfect at his home track one more time.
Congratulations to hole-shot winners at CJBMX! (May 10,
2002)
Congratulations to the hole-shot winners at Central Jersey BMX
on Friday May 10th: Tyler Block in 9 & Under Cruiser, Jimmy Moore
in 14, 15, 16 & 17 Year Old Cruiser and Gary Grunden in 12/13
Year Old Expert. Great Job!
The "Power" House is BACCCK at Mullica Hill's Regional!
(May 4 & 5, 2002)
Another regional race is in the history books for 2002 and the
"Power" House from Hamilton NJ once again proved he's on
the move towards those #1 titles!!. Like the regional race in Pittsville,
Maryland back in March, the 6 Rookie class once again needed to be
combined with another class due to the limited number of 6 Rookies
registered, but unlike Maryland, they weren't combined with the 7
year olds this time. This time they were combined with the 8 year
old class! So with the heart of a true champion, Cory sucked it up,
went out and raced his best race yet in 2002, making his mains both
days!!!! On Saturday, Cory lead the entire second moto of 6 and 8
year olds to a roaring crowd, until a last turn pass by a rocketing
Taylor Wolf relinguished Cory to a 2nd place finish! The overall results
on the weekend were outstanding as Cory brought home two 1st place
trophies, one for Saturday and one for Sunday! Until next time............
National SafeKids demo helmet safety by smashing "brain"!
(May 4, 2002)
Ever wonder what can happen when you don't wear a helmet and crash
riding a bike, scooter or skateboard? Well those present May 4th at
the Mullica Hill Regional can wonder-no-more, as the National Safekids
Coalition performed a demo using a real bike helmet and a jello molded
brain. When the "brain" made of jello was dropped first
inside of a helmet, the "brain" stayed intact. When the
"brain" was dropped again without a helmet, but rather inside
of a thin bucket representing your skull only, the results were clear......the
"brain" did not hold up! As a matter of fact, it was smashed!
The lesson, NOT USING A HELMET CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO YOUR BRAIN
DUDE! So, use your head and wear a helmet....EVERYTIME you ride ANYTHING
with wheels! Congratulations to all those riders that won bike helmets
and t-shirts from SafeKids. It was a great time had by all and some
valuable lessons hopefully were learned!
Congratulations to the SafeKid's bike helmet & t-shirt winners!
(May 4, 2002)
Congratulations to everyone that won a FREE bike helmet and t-shirt
on Saturday from the National SafeKids Coalition. Some of the winners
include: John Hiddeman (10 years old), Kimberly LeMatrie (5 years
old), Victor Behm, Dave Kapigian, Shannon Skinner and Andrew Mellfi.
Thank You to everyone that participated in the safety quiz and submitted
an entry. Everyone wins when you think safety!
