PA Stars & Stripes National results! (June 26 & 27, 2004) With 190 motos on Saturday, lots of sponsors and old friends in town, 70 degree temps, and lots of hard, fast racin' on the track, it just had to be the Stars & Stripes National in Pittsburgh PA! After just traveling 10 hours to Birmingham AL for a regional, Dad went crazy and decided to take the family on another 19 hour trip north from Tampa FL to Pittsburgh PA for the Stars & Stripes National. "This race always was a great one for us with so many of our sponsors making an appearance and a ton of great Pro riders from across the nation also showing up for the show", said dad. "It just seemed like a great opportunity for Cory, with Staats Bicycles and the entire Hurricane Staats Racing Team being there, to support our team and showcase Cory in person to the Staats organization". And Cory didn't disappoint. He commanded a 1st, 1st and 1st in his motos on Saturday, along with a 2nd in the Semi and a 2nd in the Main. Sunday was a near-carbon copy with Cory again perfecting his motos with a 1st, 1st and 1st, a 2nd in his Semi and a 3rd in his Main. Cory should leave Pittsburgh as the #1 rider in the nation in the 8 Novice class (for now - there's still two months to go before the Grands and lots of other riders to take the spot), but we'll have to wait for the official word from the NBL to confirm that! With 15 riders in the 8 Novice class, it was no easy chore for Cory to walk out of Pittsburgh with a pair of perfects in his motos. Dillon Avilla and Jacob Pons provided some of the toughest competition while the other 12 riders proved why they themselves are now Novices, not Rookies any longer. They're all super fast! Congratulations to Cory and Team Hurricane Staats for an outstanding display of "horsepower" (or leg power) in Pittsburgh's Stars & Stripes National. Way to go guys and gals! Keep racin' hard! See ya on the track! Pelham AL Regional results! (June 19 & 20, 2004) Birmingham AL is a beautiful place. There sure are some beautiful sites around the Oak Mountain State Park, just about 30 minutes south of Birmingham AL. There are almost 10,000 acres of mountains, lakes, and forests for biking and hiking along with a golf course, and riding stable. An absolute MUST SEE for any avid BMXer with a desire to camp in the great outdoors. Oh yea, and they have a really rad BMX track there too! And for all your NASCAR fans (which we are too), there's always Talladega Superspeedway just up the Interstate in he gorgeous talladega National Forest. Now, back to what we do best.....BMX. On Saturday, Cory raced to a 4th, 1st and 3rd in his motos and a 5th in his Main. But Sunday was not only Father's day, but also dad's birthday. (29 again!) and Cory must have felt generous to the man who foots the BMX bills, works on the bikes and arranges all these BMX trips. He raced his heart out for dear ol' dad and finished 1st, 1st and 3rd in his motos (no two moto system here folks - shucks!) and a 2nd in his Main. Thank you Cory for making Dear Ol' dad's big day that much brighter with some awesome racing. It was perfect except for that 10 hour ride home after the 8am start on Sunday. :-) Other then that, what more could a dad ask for! Way to go bud! Keep racing hard and see ya on the track! |
