Freedom National Results from Woodbridge VA!
(June 29 & 30, 2002)
All we can say about NOVA BMX in Woodbridge Va is that this track is one of the raddest tracks on the circuit! If you weren't there, you missed a awesome track! Yeah it was HOT! Yeah it was HUMID! But what do you expect? It's summer in Northern Virginia! Deal with it! Kudos to Jane Miranda and the entire staff at NOVA BMX for running a super facility! To start off, our lit'l power house was just getting over a chest cold and the heat, (on and off the track) took it's toll. Man, these 6 Novice riders are TOUGH! On Saturday Cory didn't make his main and settled for 8th place overall. A tough day for our tough rider. Sunday faired a little better as at least he made his main this time around, but with a tough class of 6 Novices, was only able to muster 7th place overall. Not what the lit'l dude wanted, but we take the good with the bad! See ya on the track next week at the Stars & Stripes National in Pittsburgh, PA! I assure you the power house is looking forward to it!

NJ State Qualifier #4 results from Central Jersey BMX!
(June 23, 2002)
24 hours after the Empire National in Rotterdam NY and about 224 miles southeast, Cory had another race to run. This time the NJ State Championship could be on the line! The NJ State Series rolled into Central Jersey BMX and the joisey rocket was there. Cory's combined class had him take to the track as the only 6 Novice. He was combined with the ever-fast Cody Taintor (7 Novice), Casey Jones (8 Novice), Reese Roberts (8 Novice) and Brent Horner (8 Novice). So in the world of BMX, it's take-'em-anyway-you-can-get-'em as Cory walked away with a 1st Place for the 6 Novice class. He continues to look red hot on his streak towards the NJ state championship in August. The next state qualifier will be "racin' under the lights" on Saturday night July 20th at Egg Harbor BMX. Be There!

Empire National Results from Rotterdam NY!
(June 22, 2002)
Cory's first national race as a novice was very close to where he left off as a rookie. In his first moto, Cory was racing in 2nd place ahead of Dillan Veeder from New York and Logan Vallee from Massachusetts before he crashed in the final turn and was relinguished to 4th place. Intense battling in the second and third motos with Logan Vallee made the race a suuu-per exciting one, but the on and off again rains took away some of fun. Cory walked away with a 4th place in his first national race as novice. See ya next week at the Freedom National in Woodbridge Virginia.

Well, we're movin' on up.....!
(June 21, 2002)
"SURPRISE.........you're movin' on up!" Those were the words Cory heard from dad just prior to the Empire National Pre-Race on Friday June 21st as we moved Cory from the rookie to the NOVICE proficiency level, and boy is he stoked about it! Most riders (not to mention their parents) are uneasy about moving up a proficiency level. Usually it means the competition gets tougher and the wins take a back seat while one adjusts to the new ability level and the new competitors. But a true champion knows that in all sports (as in life) one must push and challenge himself in order to become great, and our true champion has the right attitude! In dad's eyes, moving Cory to novice (the last proficiency level before turning expert) prior to the NBL-mandated time was a strategic decision, but in Cory's eye's he's on his way up! "Now I'll be the same as John and some other friends!" Cory says with a grin. "Next I'll be like Vinny and Joey and be an expert." Cory was referencing three close pals; John Anderson, Joseph Kuhfaul and Vincent Mannio, three EXTREMELY STRONG forces on the BMX scene that also hail from NJ. With the way Cory's been racing, one wouldn't want to bet against that statement either!

Cory joins the ranks of the American Bicycle Association
(June 15, 2002)
The time had come.......Cory's co-factory ride is ABA-centric, co-sponsors are ABA-centric and it's the ABA's 25th anniversary year ........so it made perfectly good sense for the "Power" house to join the rank and file of the ABA, in addition to continuing his quest in the National Bicycle League. The "joisey rocket" will be performing double duty as he adds races on the ABA circuit to his already packed National Bicycle league schedule. Look for Jersey's lit'l "power" house soon at an ABA event near you!

Hunterdon State Qualifier Results
(June 5, 2002)
On a wet and damp Saturday afternoon in Flemington, NJ the NJ State Series rolled in for Race #3 of it's eight race series. It was a su-perb day to race BMX with the low temps and high rider turnout. Our lit'l rocket was on fire for this race and couldn't wait to get it started. The first and third rounds were typical Cory at his best, getting ahead quickly and pulling away from the other four riders with ease to take the win for Rounds 1 and 3. It was a bad start from gate 8 in round 2 that may just have cost our dude his second win in his last three state races. The bad start pushed Cory to 5th by the first turn and he was unable to muster any better than 4th by the finish line. Any finish better than 4th would have given Big "C" the overall win for the event, but on this day it was not meant to be. Tyler McBride walked away with 1st place overall for his consistency in placing 2nd, 1st and 2nd and thus earning him his best finish yet at such a large event. Congratulations to Tyler on an awesome job well done! As for Cory, he doesn't have to wait long to try to redeem himself........State Qualifier #4 rolls into Central Jersey BMX on Sunday June 23rd, just one short week away. See ya there!

Another regional, another combined class!
(June 8 & 9, 2002)
The Binghamton NY Regional gets our vote for "best scenery". The mountains of Northeast Pennsylvania and Southeast New York made this road trip a scenic master piece. But enough of my chit-chat about the view, you want the race results for Cory's weekend! For those unfamiliar with the NBL rules, the following will be as clear as mud! :-) On Saturday Cory made his main and rocketed to a 3rd place finish, pushing 7 year old Kalyb Piorier to 4th place in the process. On Sunday, Cory made his main and raced to a 2nd place finish pushing ahead of Devon Grace and Kalyb Piorier. The combined class once again meant that Cory earned 1st place overall in his class. If you're confused, don't be. It all just translates to our favorite pocket-rocket doing fantastic in an older age class! Another weekend, another combined class, another awesome result! See ya on the track next week!

Mullica Hill State Qualifier 6 Rookie Results!!
(June 2, 2002)
The 6 Rookie class at Mullica Hill's State Qualifier was packed full of super-fast pocket rockets this past Sunday. The eight 6 Rookies that raced at Mullica Hill BMX for State Qualifier #2 whupped it up in their motos and also displayed a bit of bumpin' and bangin' to determine the final positions of the main. Moto #39 (the second batch of 6 Rookies) was won in all three rounds in dominating fashion by our favorite BMXer, Cory "the Powerhouse" House, followed by Charles Cassidy, Tyler McBride and Ryan Anderson in that same order each round. Moto #38 bounced wins between Mike Palumbo and Steve McFarland, followed by Nicholas Barrett and Ian Fanning. This set us up for one major league showdown in the main with an 8 rider gate and plenty of pocket-rocket power to boot! As the gate fell on 6 Rookie Main around 3:30pm, Cory quickly found a tight squeeze going into the first turn and made an awesome diving pass to take over 2nd position from Charles Cassidy. Now his sights were set on the leader Steve McFarland. But not so fast.......going into the second corner, Charles Cassidy dove back under Cory, bumping and banging as they rounded the turn, and forced the "Powerhouse" high into turn two and dropping him back to third place. A major assault by our favorite dude was made coming out of turn 5 to take back that 2nd place, but the finish line ended that challenge about 10 feet too soon! On this Sunday in Mullica Hill, 1+1+1 really did equal 3 for Jersey's top 6 Rookie! See ya on the track.........
