NJ State Qualifier results from Egg Harbor & Mullica Hill! (July 20-21, 2002)
New Jersey State Qualifers 5 & 6 were run this weekend at Egg Harbor BMX on Saturday and Mullica Hill BMX on Sunday. Saturday evening was racin' under the lights at Egg Harbor BMX and with low humidity, it was a perfect evening for some BMXin! Our little rocket was stoked going into this weekend, but a lingering chest cold made it a bit tougher then normal on our champ. He hung in there both days to end with a 3rd place overall finish and a 1st in class each day. Six state qualifers are now in the history books, and this leaves only two state qualifiers to go......Hunterdon BMX on Saturday August 10th and Central Jersey BMX on Sunday August 11th.....before we head into the NJ State Championship in Egg Harbor on Saturday August 24th. Start the countdown......... See ya on the track!

Stars & Stripes National Results from South Park PA!!
(July 4-7, 2002)
The 6 Novice big guns were out in force at the Stars & Stripes National outside of Pittsburgh PA over the July 4th holiday weekend and there were plenty of fireworks on and off the track! For those of you that have never been to South Park, we can describe it in one word! HUGE! This track was the raddest track on the series yet! If you were a jumper (which Cory isn't just yet), this track was for you! This was one rockin' track! Huge jumps sent many a riders (amateur & Pro's alike) to the hospital on backboards! But anyway.....now for the details you all came to read about. The "power" house from NJ is improving and adjusting to his new Novice class after a couple of tough weekends. It showed by him making his mains both Saturday and Sunday. There were a total of 11 riders in the 6 Novice class and some were to be sent home without making the mains. Cory wasn't one of them this time as he rocketed to 3rd place in his motos in round 1 on Saturday and 4th in round 2. In the main on Saturday he held on to a 7th place overall finish. Sunday proved a bit more exciting as in the first round he went from 5th to 3rd, passing Nick Eso and Jacob Ritchie in a really cool high-low maneuver in turn one and almost took 2nd at the finish line in a photo finish with Hunter Searey. (If only the track were 10 feet longer ....again!) In Sunday's second round, Cory placed 4th when Nick Eso returned the high-low move in the last turn to take over 3rd place. Sunday's main was a bit of an improvement as he received an overall 6th place finish. For the last two nationals since turning Novice, the mains were out of reach, but this weekend, at one of the toughest tracks yet, the rocket proved he's slowly gaining positions and confidence. Stay tuned for the rest of the summer, because as they say, "It ain't over 'til it's over!" See ya on the track........

Just Hangin' at the Freedom National in Woodbridge VA!! (June 28-30, 2002)
Ever hear the saying, "If you can't run with the BIG DOGS, stay on the porch?" Well hanging with the BIG DOGS was exactly what Cory was doin' in Woodbridge VA at the Freedom National June 28th - 30th. If you'd like to learn from the best in the NBL, the Pro's are the one's to watch and learn from and there was no shortage of Pro's at the Freedom National as the NBL Pro Series invaded NOVA BMX over the weekend. One of Cory's favorite Pro riders and 2001 X-Game Superstar, Robbie Miranda, also calls Woodbridge VA and NOVA BMX his home. What a better place to meet and talk racin' then at a pro's home track! Robbie's mom, Jane Miranda, also runs NOVA BMX and does an awesome job keeping things operating smoothly and keeping the races running on time. Thank you to Robbie and Jane for making our visit to NOVA BMX a trip to remember! For those of you that have never visited NOVA BMX, all we can say is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?" If you get the chance, be sure to check out this rad facility and say "Hey" from all of us here in NJ. If you can't visit the track but want to catch up on the latest news from Robbie, such as where he's riding trails at this week or how things are going for him at the X-Games in August, just check out www.robbiemiranda.com.
