Cory House,
you just finished National #8 at the '03 NBL Grands, what are you gonna
do next?!
Disney of Course!
(Aug 30 & 31, 2003)
The MVP from
the NFL's Super Bowl heads there after the championship game, so it's
only fitting that after Cory completed his first ever NBL Grands within
the ranks of the "single-digit" elite, that a trip 45 minutes
east to Disney World would make a great reward! But before the reward,
there was racing, rain, mud, and delays at the '03 Grands. Thursday
and Friday August 28th & 29th were great practice days at Louisville
KY's Derby BMX. Hot weather and sunshine were abundant and it was looking
like an awesome weekend of racing. That all changed Friday night when
a weather front stalled over the area and plagued the area with heavy
rain for two days. The rain turned the camp areas and the spectator
areas of the track into a mudfest and what looked at times like Lake
Derby BMX. But the NBL staff did an outstanding job of keeping the track
dry by covering it and in between rain storms, we did get the entire
event in without going into Monday. There were a total of 22 riders
going for the win in the 7 Novice group with 2 motos of six riders and
2 motos of 5 riders. Cory drew moto #347 out of the 470+ motos. This
translates to about a 3-4 hour delay between motos.....without the rain.
Cory's three motos looked great as he finished
3rd in all three rounds
advancing himself to the Semi-Finals. The semi-finals were the last
round before the main for the 7 Nov group. Making it out of the semis
and into the Main event would guarantee going home with a trophy from
the biggest event of the season and was his only goal coming into this
event. In 2003 however, it was not meant to be. Cory failed to finish
in the top 4 in his semi round and would fail to make it as one of the
final 8 in the main. However, he did move up two positions in the overall
National rankings from 10th to 8th and will ride a National
#8 plate for the entire 2004 season. We couldn't be prouder
of this accomplishment since the year was complete with a 1000 mile
relocation from NJ to FL and the distractions were plenty. "It
was a super awesome finish to a great season despite all the distractions
of moving", says Dad. "We're very proud that we could finish
in the elite top 10 and look for Cory to build on this for next year".
Many a Thank You's go out to all of our 2003 Sponsors; Chris
King Components, EVS Rider Protection Gear,
Sun Ringle Components, ATI, Maxxis, Ajobikes,
Crupi BMX and The National Safe Kids Campaign
for all
your support and for assisting Cory with getting to his National #8
title in 2003. To our friends and family, you are the BEST
in BMX........and Thank You too for believing in Cory
throughout this season and all the others. Look for us back on the track
real soon as we prepare for the 2004 season. But first......some well
earned R&R at Disney and then it's time to hit the school books!
See ya all on the track real soon!!

Cory's
NJ BMX career ends in super fast
fashion - Prepares for the Boyz of the Sunshine State!
(Aug 2 & 3, 2003)
It
all started Saturday July 7, 2001 at Hunterdon BMX when then 5 year
old Cory House brought home his first BMX trophy - a 2nd place. Two
years, dozens of wins and many miles later Cory has ended his NJ BMX
career exactly where and how it started - August 3rd, 2003 and a 2nd
place finish at Hunterdon BMX! August
2 & 3 were the final rounds of the New Jersey State Series for
2003 and things certainly were heated up. A total of seven riders
filled the class on Saturday with Cory taking
2nds in all three motos and a
third in the Main. Sunday saw only 5 riders in our
class and Cory topping out again with
2nds in all three motos and no Main. The heat was on
in NJ this weekend also, maybe trying to prepare us for those sultry
tropical race days ahead, but Cory was cool and right on his game
plan as he completed the 2003 NJ State Series Qualifiers on top of
his class. Best of Luck to everyone in the NJ State Championship in
October.
